Challenge: Achieving High-Precision Articulation in Limited Space

The client faced a problem identifying an off-the-shelf product that met its performance requirements in a tight package design.

Neuroendoscopic instruments are used to perform minimally invasive surgical procedures and treatments inside the brain or spinal cord via a small incision. As such, neuroendoscopes and other neuroendoscopic tools specify a very limited diameter for the working channel and require functional flexibility to ensure smooth insertion and effective manipulation.

Berg technical experts designed and built a solution to the client’s specifications, which led to the development of a new customized linear bearing that exactly matched the performance needs for this important tool.
